He worked with Sun Oil Co, working as a drilling engineer off the Texas and Louisiana coasts. He was transferred to Lafayette in 1968 and retired in 1986 after 32 years of service. He was a member of Hope Lodge No 145 AF&AM.

The bride is the former Miss Louise LeFevre Lambert, daughter of Mrs Maude Lambert, of Leesburg, Va. Her wedding to Dr Drake, son of Mr and Mrs H W M Drake, of Port Gibson, Miss, took place at the home of Dr and Mrs Edward Barkhull, of Nashville, with the Rev Dr H I Kerr officiating. News of the marriage came as a surprise to friends here and in Leesburg, as the date had originally been set for fall. The bride was given in marriage by Dr Barkhull and had as her matron of honor and only attendant, Miss Sarah Buchanan, of Decatur, Tenn. The bridegroom was attended by his father.")^6,7

She was active in the Medical Alliance, Friends of the Library, Shield Museum, Women of the First Presbyterian Church and the Food Bank. Throughout her life she had a positive attitude, a quest for knowledge and a sense of humor. Louise is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ben and daughter, Susan Drake Smith. Surviving is her sister, Wilma Hoy of Miami, and her daughters Julia Lambert of Pittsburgh, Mary Louisa Bell of Baton Rouge and Elizabeth Drake of Ft Meyers. She is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. . . ."⁴
