McCollum and Beatrice Wiesner, both of McLean, Va, and Ruth W Roquemore of Marshfield, Maine. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Henry, Richard, Robert and Albert Wiesner. Mrs Fleming was a registered nurse, graduating from the Ohio Valley School of Nursing at the Ohio Valley General Hospital in Wheeling, W Va. She served with the American Red Cross prior to marriage. After her husband’s retirement from USAF, the family settled in Columbia and were long time members of Eastminster Presbyterian Church. She served as Elder and held many church offices. She was made an Honorary Life member of the Women of the Church. Mrs Fleming was a member of PEO. Over the years, she was a dedicated volunteer, serving in many capacities at all military assignments from Alaska to Germany and New Mexico to New Hampshire."²

Her obituary stated: "Evelyn Wildman Steger (Gamma) passed away on February 25, 2021, at the age of 96. She died in her sleep of natural causes at Commonwealth Senior Living in Kilmarnock, Virginia, where she had been living since December 2016.

Evelyn was born on May 18, 1924, in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Doris and Mason Wildman of Rockville, Maryland. She graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, and was raised by her mother, Doris, and grandparents in Ballston (Arlington), Virginia. For most of her married life, and until 2015, Evelyn lived on North Lebanon Street in Arlington, Virginia.

On February 20, 1942, she married Edwin Melvin Steger in Arlington, Virginia.

In her lifetime, she was a faithful member of Westover Baptist Church in Arlington, Virginia, and in February 2009, received a Certificate of Ordination as Deacon by that church.

Evelyn loved card games, especially Bridge; playing golf; bowling; dancing and social events; gardening; and shopping with her girlfriends.

Evelyn is survived by her sons, Ronald Melvin (Betty), Jeffrey James (Cindy), and Leslie Allen (Cindi) Steger. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Ronald Scott (Gina) Steger; Sharon Elizabeth (Jeff) Clarke; Jeffrey Stephen (Alicia) Steger; Stacy Lynn (Kevin) Dawson; Nicholas Barton (Elizabeth) Steger; Benjamin Edwin (Savannah) Steger; her great grandchildren: Sierra Steger; Eden Clarke; Andrew, Hannah, Todd, Catherine, Michael, Peter, Joseph and Dominic Steger; Crawford, Ally and Sawyer Dawson; Luke and Kaitlynn Steger.

Evelyn was a woman of substance. She held the family together during World War II, the Depression, and very difficult economic times. Evelyn Steger mattered!"⁴

THE CHANCELLOR. As it regards the charge of adultery, the case is not satisfactorily made out. One witness states, that while the defendant lived in the house of his father?in?law, Wilkinson, he told witness that he, the defendant, had the venereal disease; that he had contracted it in New?York, and that Dr. Hamilton was attending him. This is the only direct evidence of the fact that has been presented. The evidence, of itself, is insufficient. In cases of this kind, the court takes the confessions of parties with very great caution, and they are never held sufficient without strong corroborating. circumstances. In this case there are no such circumstances. The testimony of Phineas S. Bunting n relied on as corroborating the confession of Clutch. He states, that pending an application to the legislature for a divorce be­tween these parties, Dr. Hamilton was examined as a witness before him as a justice of the peace; and that upon the exami­nation, Dr. H. deposed, that Clutch had made application to him for medical advice, and he ascertained that Clutch had the venereal disease. Clutch told him he had contracted it in Philadel­phia. The affidavit of Dr. Hamilton, as taken before the magis­trate, is also produced. This testimony is clearly inadmissible. The affidavit itself is taken without any kind of authority, and is purely voluntary. The whole of it amounts to nothing more than hearsay evidence, and is entitled to no weight in the search after truth.

I would add, also, that the charge of the fact in the petition is too general. It simply states that the defendant hath, since his marriage, committed adultery; without setting forth the time, place, or any of the circumstances. It would be difficult for a defendant to meet so indefinite a charge.

The prayer of the petitioner, so far as it seeks a divorce a vin­culo matrimonii, is refused.
Upon the other charge, there is testimony to show that the complainant has been treated with very great impropriety on the part of her husband. He is proved to be an intemperate man, and grossly abusive. In one instance he turned his wife and children out of doors, and compelled her to take refuge in her father's house. In another, he is represented as having taken her up forcibly and turned her out of doors, and then shutting the door against her. She has exhibited marks and bruises upon her person, which she represented to be the effect of his violence. He has frequently refused to provide for his family the common necessaries of life, and left them destitute; and several witnesses concur in the opinion, that it would be unsafe for her to live with him. Under these circumstances, I feel inclined to grant the application for a separation from bed and board, although the case is certainly not one of the most aggravated character; and in the hope that some reformation may be brought about and the parties become reconciled, I shall decree a separation for the term of three years; and in the mean time the child, who is of tender years, is to be committed to the custody of the mother.

I do not wish to be understood as expressing any opinion on the propriety of joining in one petition a charge for adultery and a charge for extreme cruelty, the legal consequences of which are so totally different. I incline to think it should not be done. But as the defendant has not appeared to contest the suit, or meet either of the charges; and as this is a case on petition under a late statute, by which the complainant has a right to amend her petition in matters of substance as well as form, and as she comes into court in forma pauperis, I have thought proper to pass by the question, if it be one, and place myself upon the merits. Decree accordingly.³

He appeared on the 1880 federal census of Camden Co, New Jersey, enumerated 11 June 1880. Household: Edward Willis (50) and Eliza (wif - 49), residing in Haddon Township where he was a farmer.²

On 10 Sep 1767 Joseph Rudd and Wilmoth Rudd signed with their marks an indenture between John Clarke and Edward Hagen. This suggests Wilmoth was her given name but other researchers have Elizabeth Wilmoth/Wilmouth as her name - have not located relaiable source of Elizabeth as given name. Elizabeth Wilmoth died before 31 January 1779 likely in Mecklenburg Co, Virginia Colony, (she was not mentioned in Joseph's will.)³

He named Mabel E Deo [sister] of Stratford as nearest relative; medium height, medium build, had blue eyes and dark hair.²

Alice R Wilson was born 4 June 1919 in Los Angeles Co, California.³ She was the daughter of Elwood L Wilson and Blanche Tanquary.¹

John E Wilson died 21 April 2004 in Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara Co, California, at age 88.⁴

His obituary stated: "Wilson, John E 'Jack'. Born on August 10, 1915 in Los Angeles; passed away on April 21, 2004 in Santa Barbara, California. He is survived by his son Doug Wilson of Pasadena, daughter Wendy Smith and her husband Jeff of Spokane, Washington, sister Alice Young, granddaughter Devon Smith, and grandson Eric Smith. Jack graduated from Hollywood High School and UCLA. During World War II, he served in the Navy in Sasebo, Japan. After 30 years with the City of Los Angeles, Jack retired as Assistant Director of Personnel. His travels took him to every continent. He was active with the Santa Barbara Orchid Society and served on the Santa Barbara Council on Alcoholism. . . ."⁴
