The following MP4 files are short videos of the home movies of Robert Stoy, taken between 1939 and 1962. There is also the video of Bob and Lisa's wedding in September 1988.
I've taken all the spliced material that Dad put on the film reels and separated each scene - in many cases the splicing did not make any sense so I've revised some of the material. Also, I've left out a couple of scenes that can't be identified and are of no interest today - Dad is not around to say what some of these scenes were about. My brother, Jim, and my cousin Ann have helped in identifying various people and places; some of the material is like solving a mystery without the help of the people (Mom and Dad) that made the films some 75 years ago. Most of the material, but not all, comes from the late 1930s and early 1940s, and I've tried to indicate on each scene the approximate time of filming - this was done by comparing a particular scene to other scenes, looking at the model of the cars, knowing the ages and deaths of various people, and comparing the film to still photos that have dates.
The original film was 8mm recorded at 16-18 frames per second in roughly a 4:3 format. I've converted the digital files to 4:3 format at 854x620px and 20fps to minimize the file size yet retain the original image clarity (which wasn't that good to start with). These videos are at least as good optical quality as the original film.
