Merven worked for Morrison Knudson as a master mechanic so they traveled extensively. They had two daughters, Billie (James) and Connie (Young). Evelyn was a fabulous cook and baker, making most everything from scratch. She worked for many years at Valencia's in downtown Boise as a hostess. Merven and Evelyn, with the help of their family, eventually built a business of their own; a beautiful vacation spot in Yellow Pine, ID, called Alpine Village. For many years, while Merven was periodically gone overseas for work, Evelyn would independently run the business. However, after his death in 1983, she sold Alpine Village and moved to Meridian, ID. Evelyn is survived by her brother, Thomas Thayne, of Seattle, WA and her two daughters, Billie and Connie, five grandchildren, thirteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Evelyn was so grateful for the tender care given her by family members over the years. . . ."¹

In 1858 a suit was initiated by Thomas E Carper, William B Day and John T Day (brothers) against the heirs of Joseph Blincoe for monies owed the plaintiffs while in business partnership with Blincoe. The extensive documents in this case give documentation of Joseph's family, his property and the fact that he died with almost no estate, intestate. It's clear that Joseph's wife, Mary, could not take care of all the children so a number of them were not living with her in the 1860 census and were with other family members (her Thomas family.)⁸

After his discharge he returned to the ranch where he continued to reside and operate until his death. Linda preceded him in death on February 24, 2006. He also worked as a state brand inspector for 40 years, retiring in 2015.

Paul was a member of the American Legion Post #240 of Martin, the Mt. Moriah Masonic Lodge of Kadoka, the South Dakota Stockgrowers, and the Presbyterian Church of Kadoka.

Survivors include a brother Terry Thomas and his wife Brenda of Interior; one sister Nancy Peterson and her husband Buster of Kadoka; seven nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends . . . "
